In 1880, Matteograssi began as a Saddlery workshop, ran by Matteo Grassi and his family. With leather craftsmanship being their staple, crafting saddles, bridles, reins and harnesses for horses from coach hide.

In the 50's to 70's Matteograssi began supplying coach hide components for furniture companies. This ignited a passion for furniture in the Grassi family.

In 1978 the first line of furnishings by MatteoGrassi was produced. Their expertise in leather was applied to their furniture, and this can be seen in the exquisite finishing of their pieces. The hides and skins used by Matteograssi come exclusively from european farms.
